DATA AFFAIRS is a freely accessible platform that aims to provide students, (early career) researchers and teachers with an overview of research data management issues that arise when working with qualitative data in ethnographic research. The platform encourages a (critical) examination of the demands of Open Science, and supports the reflective and systematic handling of empirical, especially qualitative, research data. Illustrative examples and varying exercises invites the users to engage in interactive self-study. DATA AFFAIRS was developed in the Collaborative Research Centre 1171 ‘Affective Societies’ and published in 2023. In addition to the German edition, an English-language edition was also realised with funding from the Specialized Information Service for Social and Cultural Anthropology (FID SKA) and published in May 2025.
