A Short Introduction
The Online Compendium on German-Greek Entanglements (ComDeG) is an academic publication platform for peer-reviewed contributions (in German and Greek), which focus on the political, economic, scientific and cultural transfer processes between the German and Greek cultural spaces, from the 18th century onwards. The ComDeG is conceived as a work-in-progress that may become a reference work for scholars, teachers, students and the general public in their search of reliable information on the people and the institutions, the fields of action and the modes of mediation, which have enabled a productive exchange between the German-speaking and Greek-speaking regions over the last 200 years.
The digital platform comdeg.eu corresponds to the objective forwarded by the Center for Modern Greece to create substantial research tools and to publish scholarly content that allows for insights into the extent and diversity of the entangled (hi)stories of Austria, Cyprus, Germany, and Greece. The Essays and Articles of the Compendium, co-edited by the Institute for the Study of Greek-German Relations (EMES) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Center for Modern Greece (CeMoG) at Freie Universität Berlin, are connected with the Bibliographical Collections and the Knowledge Base of CeMoG through a comprehensive tagging system. The advanced search and filter functions of the ComDeG display both explicit information patterns and possible relations between people, institutions and practices based on collocation and affiliation.
